The verdict
AIVA targets a underserved niche: cinematic and classical composition. For game soundtracks, film trailers, and orchestral work where the alternative is hiring a composer or licensing stock, AIVA's MIDI export means the AI-generated foundation can be refined in a real DAW โ you're not stuck with what the model produced. The honest tradeoffs: genre range is narrower than Suno or Udio (don't expect strong pop, rock, or vocal-driven output), the UI shows its age compared to newer competitors, and the cinematic specialization that makes it strong here makes it the wrong tool for most other music use cases. For composers and game devs working in orchestral and cinematic styles, AIVA is the right fit and the commercial licensing makes it viable for production work. For general-purpose music generation, the bigger platforms offer more versatility for the same subscription cost.
