The verdict
Synthesia owns the AI-avatar-as-presenter niche almost by default — its avatar library is the largest, language coverage broadest, and lip sync more consistent than competitors. For corporate training, internal comms, and L&D content where the alternative is hiring a presenter or filming yourself, the ROI math is straightforward. The honest tradeoff: avatars still read as avatars. Even at Synthesia's quality bar, a viewer who's seen one knows they're not watching a human, which limits its fit for any content that depends on charisma or connection. Pricing leans enterprise — meant for teams producing video at scale, not individuals. If you're producing 50+ videos a month in multiple languages, this fits and the price reflects the niche. For lower volumes, the per-video cost rarely justifies the subscription.
